CHICKEN POX PLOT

A couple of days ago in a rather rambly OOC post (oops) I brought forward a potential plot idea. Well, I'm going to go ahead and go forward with it! It is something you will need to opt in for, but I hope it allows enough flexibility for you to do your own thing and go where you want to go with it.

Here's how it's going to run.

On March 7th Nageki, along with Sakuya and Kazuaki, will awaken from their comas, thus ending their canon update period. Some sort of post will be made that day signalling their return (not certain on the details of that yet, but we'll have it sorted out by then). What Nageki will not realize is that he brought back with him a rather annoying strain of the chicken pox!

In the March 7th post Nageki will already be sick and showing the preliminary symptoms (a fever that'll start out as mild, plus a headache and tiredness), but he won't think anything of it and in fact will try to hide it. He'll just resume daily life, yadda yadda yadda, all that exciting stuff.

He'll be stubbornly out and about on March 8th, his symptoms more pronounced, and then by March 9th the actual telltale signs of chicken pox will appear. From there he'll be conveniently confined and totally out for a week because I have midterms on the 14th and 15th and will slowatus/hiatus that Monday through Thursday of his weakened immune system he is also bringing back with him! Yay. He will recover by March 15th or 16th, and by the 18th (or whatever date, I just rather it not be too late in the month) everyone will be back to perfect heatlh.

The virus can start spreading as early as March 7th, which means your characters can start showing the symptoms by the 8th. Of course, the timing and duration of your character's chicken pox is up to you! If you think they are perfectly healthy and would shake something like that off quickly, then feel free to make it just last a few days. It normally lasts up to a week, though, so keep that in mind when planning. It may be a new strain, but that doesn't mean that it has the capability to knock a normal person out for a month!

You can refer to here for information on the symptoms and typical progression of chicken pox. This will not have any capability to kill someone, so don't worry about that.

You'll notice that technically the turnaround time from infection to showing the symptoms is much larger than a day, but for the sake of time and convenience I am going to handwave that and say that because Nageki's chicken pox was originally a deadlier virus back home (not revealing the details because Hatoful Boyfriend spoilers), it works much quicker than the norm. Also, if your character has been vaccinated in the past or you can easily say that they have due to the technology of their world, they still can get infected if you want them to.

They do not have to be in contact with Nageki specifically in order to get infected. Due to the fact that it is highly contagious, as long as you can think of a reason for your character to be near another infected character, then that's good enough for me.

→ Currently in a coma! But after that he’ll be sick because chicken pox, haha.

→ He spends a lot of time in the library. Mornings and afternoons mainly when there are no classes to conflict with things.

→ I’m not looking for any super dramatic plots with him because he’s going to have enough to deal with post canon update with the pox and then the discrepancies between what he knows and what certain cast mates know. Anything else would be lovely, though! Later on he’ll probably need people to drag him out and make him do things.

→ Fiery gym leader from the Unova region! Also a waiter by occupation. The youngest out of the Striaton trio and the most immature out of them as well. Has the tendency to be a bit of a jerk and act/speak before he thinks, but he’s not a complete asshole, I promise. Very energetic and very loud, too. pretty much the opposite of Nageki

→ Just arrived yesterday! He’s just getting settled in. I’m planning on making some sort of intro post for him soon at the arcade. And by soon I mean before the 7th.

→ There’s nothing that I can think of that I don’t want. The big things I can think of are someone to joke around with, someone to be stupidly competitive with, and someone to (try and) keep him in line.

... basically, people to fill in the roles that his brothers back home used to fill. But really, anything at all would be fantastic!

→ I am okay with just about anything. I love writing crack, I love writing angst, I love making life difficult for my characters in general. All I want is for my characters to hate their lives more than they already do. I love heartbreak but I definitely won't say no to fluff (who in their right minds says no to fluff), but seriously, A N Y T H I N G.

→ Great at getting characters out of their comfort zone! Interested in mechanics? Like crazy theories and uncomfortably personal debate? Want to maybe infiltrate the off-limits area, or at least poke your nose into places it shouldn't go? If you can stand him, he's your guy.

→ Ryoji is a moron with absolutely terrible fashion sense. He's cheerful, in love with life, and adores taking cute girls on dates. Spoilers: He is also Death and Harbinger of the Fall aka the apocalypse aka his existence means that everyone is going to die and that makes him very sad sometimes. (All of the time.) And very grateful just to be in Gora, where he can spend time with the people he loves the most. And to just be alive!

He also types like a huge tool. (●´∀｀●)

→ He is currently dating Minako! She claimed his ears and probably turned them in to Elizabeth for a request. They're planning on becoming a bonded pair.
→ He's a ZERO! He hides this because he wants to be seen as normal. His 0 can be found on the inside of his left wrist. It's mostly covered by this weird wristband/watch thing that he wears.
→ Once Nageki gets back, he's going to get the chicken pox. He's totally gonna spread it all over the place before Minako traps him and mothers him back to health.

routines
→ Ryoji attends class every day! He's usually seen hanging out with Minako and occasionally Minato. There's some weird tension between him and Aigis.
→ When he's not spending time with birds his various friends, Ryoji wanders around town. Right now, he visits the clinic every day to visit the unconscious Hatoful cast. He reads a little bit of Night on the Galactic Railroad every time he visits Nageki because of feelings.

→ I would totally love for more people to call Ryoji out on his various eccentricities! He's a very strange person, as much as he'd like to pretend that he's "normal."
