Headcanon:

1. Mello started eating chocolate because he wanted to be like L and have a sweet tooth. It's more habitual now than an actual love.
2. His mother was devoutly religious. Mello never talks about his parents, though, given the fact that things ended terribly and he wound up an orphan.
3. He speaks multiple languages. You kind of need to, if you're trying to be the next best international detective.
